My work is predominately couture sewing based however I love to fuse together the traditional needlecraft skills with more contemporary techniques. I am adept at designing & drawing up my own dress patterns in order that the cut of the garment is the most flattering fit for the wearer. Where appropriate, I incorporate corsetry to add structure & support to the garment.
As a designer, I often use CAD either to design & laser cut detailing within a garment or to manipulate my artwork in order to produce digital prints. These designs can then be printed onto many types of fabrics to create a truly unique garment. My latest collection features laser cut leather, not only in the embelishment of the evening gown but also as a stand alone leather collar collection.
Heavy machine embroidery has been used in many of my pieces of work which has then been sculpted into flowers, as with the felt flowers I create, I ensure the correct tones are used for each piece. I also encorporate wire and beads to bring depth to my work, harmonizing the natural materials with organic designs to give visual impact to a piece.
My ethos is that we all posses a beautiful feature and it is my job as a designer to enhance that and make a garment that you will love to wear time and again.
My main commissions are made to measure dresses that are designed to the clients wishes, however anything is possible. I can also make matching handbags and accessories in order to complete an outfit for a special occasion. Dress re-design is also available as well as alteration work.
